Tenth Annual Tournament

TENTH ANNUAL TENNIS TOURNAMENT

The tenth annual open tennis tournament to benefit the Franklin High School boy’s & girl’s tennis teams was held June 5th through 7th. A total of 41 players signed up for an

exciting and challenging weekend of tennis.

Mostly local players, with a good mix of varsity and middle grade team members, along with adults, competed for prizes and trophies. The competition was fierce as four

matches were decided by a ten point tie breaker. The varsity teams were well represented as boy’s member, Canyon Woodward took the men’s singles A division trophy.

From the girl’s team, Nikki Valley captured the women’s B singles trophy. Valley also teamed up with varsity player, Savannah Herman to take the women’s B doubles

trophy. Lastly, Andrea Bell and Jeff Bosio walked away with the mixed B doubles trophy. Brackets for each division available under news & events on the home page.

Co- tournament director, Rick Blanton dedicated this year’s event to co-director, Sammy Gunter which was unable to participate this year due to suffering a serious knee injury

earlier in the week. Gunter started the tournament ten years ago to raise money for the tennis teams and promote tennis in the Franklin area.

Blanton and Gunter would like to express their appreciation to the merchants which have been faithful in supporting the tournament each year. Their names are proudly displayed

on a banner at the rec. park tennis courts.
